St Beuno's Well
Holywell, Flintshire
OS Grid Ref.: SJ18417619
Lat/Lng: 53.2763890315,-3.22503677426
The association of Beuno with the site of Holywell is mainly through the narrative account in the Life of Winefride, who was decapitated at the monastery of her uncle, Beuno. Subsequently the cult of Winefride supplanted that of Beuno, and the dedication of this well, only attested in the nineteenth century, and the possible dedication of the church nearby at Whitford are the only remains of his cult in the area attested in dedications.
