Church of St Illtyd
Llanelltyd, Merionethshire
Diocese: Bangor/Bangor
OS Grid Ref.: SH71751954
Lat/Lng: 52.758198738727,-3.9019072834482
Medieval church whose dedication to Illtud may possibly date to the twelfth century.
As an outlier of most dedications to Illtud (mostly in the south of Wales), the dedication must be regarded as uncertain. The name may perhaps be Elltud Farchog, not necessarily Illtud, although Marchog (a knight or soldier) does fit with the tradition of Illtud's early life.More information
