Church now dedicated to David, and associated with him in a poem by Gwynfardd Brycheiniog in the twelfth century. A former dedication to a founding saint Llywel or Llowel has been proposed, prior to its acquisition by the Chapter of St David in about 1203. It was also described as being dedicated to three saints: David, Darn (Padarn) and Teilo, and known as (Llan)Trisant, in 1239.
