Church of St Peter
Glasbury, Radnorshire
Diocese: Abertawe ac Aberhonddu/Swansea and Brecon (Former diocese: Tyddewi/St Davids)
OS Grid Ref.: SO17723854
Lat/Lng: 52.039131816,-3.20097801068
Church dedicated to Peter, built on the Breconshire side of the River Wye, and replacing an earlier church near the river in the seventeenth century. The present building dates to 1837–8, the chancel added in 1881. Browne Willis mentions both churches, and gives the patron as Peter. The first edition six-inch OS map (1888) marks the church as St Peter's, while the second edition (revised 1903) gives the dedication to both Peter and Cynidr. Both editions mark the old church as St Peter's. However, the dedication to Cynidr may also have antiquity, and the likelihood that it was a clas church, as implied in the place-name(Welsh: Y Clas-ar-Wy), may support this.
