Church of St David

Llanddew, Brecon

Diocese: Abertawe ac Aberhonddu/Swansea and Brecon  (Former diocese: Tyddewi/St Davids)

OS Grid Ref.: SO05493075
Lat/Lng: 51.9671624146,-3.37707667836

The medieval church at Llanddew is now dedicated to David, but Browne Willis gives the dedication as the Holy Trinity, and Wade-Evans to God alone (Duw, pronounced similarly to Dew, is Welsh for God). The transition to David at some stage in the eighteenth or nineteenth century is not surprising given the similarity of Llanddew to Llanddewi. Samuel Lewis records the dedication to David in the 1830s.
