Tal-y-llyn

Tal-y-llyn, Merionethshire

OS Grid Ref.: SH710094
Lat/Lng: 52.6669162497,-3.90903164202

The place-name of Tal-y-llyn has been known in the form Llanfihangel Tal-y-llyn since 1535 (Llanvihangell Talyllyn), suggesting a dedication to Michael from the sixteenth century. However, all known sources referring specifically to the church (all post-1730) give Mary as the patron of the church. Could the Mihangel element have been borrowed from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant?
