Church built 1829–33 to replace an earlier building opened in 1787. This had been built to replace an even earlier church, which was reportedly in ruins in the middle of the eighteenth-century. This church has been claimed to have dated back to the fifteenth century, and dedicated not to Michael, but to Mary. Only the vestry of the 1830s building survives.
