Church of St Peter

Glasbury, Radnorshire

Diocese: Tyddewi/St Davids

OS Grid Ref.: SO17623891
Lat/Lng: 52.0424427466,-3.2025248456

Site of the old church by the river at Glasbury, replaced by a building on the site of the present Church of St Peter in the seventeenth century. Browne Willis gives the dedication as Peter, and notes that the old church was on the Radnorshire side of the river. Both the first and second edition six-inch OS maps mark the site of the church as St Peter's Church on the Breconshire side of the Wye, but between the Wye and Llyfni, at the mouth of the latter.

The new church has been associated with Cynidr and is marked on the second edition six-inch OS map as dedicated to both saints. It is likely that this old church was also associated with Cynidr, and Wade-Evans presumes that Cynidr was initially the patron.
