Lat/Lng: 51.3909878415,-3.32075376789
Forms of the place-name from the thirteenth century take forms such as -ciri, -kyry, -kire as the second element, but examples from the sixteenth century and later seem to align the place-name to forms of Curig, who is attested as the patron of the church in the eighteenth century.
The church is associated with both Curig and Ceri ab Caid or Ceri Hir Lyngwyn by Iolo Morganwg, who implied that Curig was a protector of mariners, and founded the port for them. He is depicted in stained glass in the church.More information
