Church of St Cybi

Llangybi, Monmouthshire

Diocese: Mynwy/Monmouth  (Former diocese: Llandaf/Llandaff)

OS Grid Ref.: ST37409669
Lat/Lng: 51.6654848148,-2.9065137376

Church dedicated to Cybi according to sources dating back to the twelfth century.

The name of the saint was also apparently the same as the river (Keby, 1397), although the earliest source for the place-name (1155–83) specifically refers to the church as of sancti Cubi. The church is referred to in the twelfth-century Latin Lives of Cybi, as one of two churches given to him by Ethelic, the other being Llanddyfrwyr.
