Capel Ffraid
Capel Ffraid, Cardiganshire
OS Grid Ref.: SN40404598
Lat/Lng: 52.0890918712,-4.3309471487
Lost chapel, whose dedication to Ffraid is doubtful. The place-name of Capel Ffraid is not attested until the nineteenth century.
Although it is evident that a chapel formerly stood here, its dedication to Ffraid appears to have been a nineteenth-century innovation. Alternative spellings prior to 1803 suggest that the second element was not Ffraid and earlier spellings include Lanfra and Lanfrene.More information
