Brawdy
Brawdy, Pembrokeshire
OS Grid Ref.: SM857240
Lat/Lng: 51.8732917672,-5.11450373061
Forms of the place-name are first attested in the early thirteenth century.
It has been suggested that the place-name could have originally been a form of Brigid (Ffraid). However, phonological problems make this unlikely, and the dedication of the church to David (by at least the eighteenth century) makes the connection with the Irish saint unlikely.More information
