OS Grid Ref.: SO45612034
Lat/Lng: 51.8789591453,-2.79153278737
Medieval church now dedicated to Bride, given as Bridget in earlier sources.
Browne Willis gives Bridget as the patron of the church, and a single reference to the church of St. Brigid of Schenevrit in the twelfth century is the only known evidence for the dedication prior to this. Rice Rees also accepts Ffraid or Bride, although Wade-Evans provides Cynwraidd as the patron. This is derived from the Welsh form of the place-name, Ynys Gynwraidd, but Cynwraidd seems unlikely as the original patron of the church, with no other evidence to support it.More information
