Church of St Peter
Llanwenarth, Monmouthshire
Diocese: Mynwy/Monmouth (Former diocese: Llandaf/Llandaff)
OS Grid Ref.: SO27571481
Lat/Lng: 51.8271927415,-3.05239846819
Medieval church dedicated to Peter, and his patronage is given by Browne Willis and the six-inch OS map. Wade-Evans gives Gwenarth, from the place-name, and the reference to Sancto Waynardo in the 1254 Norwich valuation supports this. A fourteenth-century Calendar of Patent Rolls (1334) supports both traditions, giving the dedication of the church as both Peter and Wenard.
