The medieval church at St George was replaced by a new church built between 1887 and 1894, on adjacent land. It was demolished in 1894.
An early source for the dedication to George is found in the Papal Registers in around 1400, where the church is referred to as the 'parish church of St. George, Kegidoc, in the diocese of St. Asaph'.
