Church of St Collen

Llangollen, Denbighshire

Diocese: Llanelwy/St Asaph

OS Grid Ref.: SJ21684198
Lat/Lng: 52.9694342373,-3.16764464589

Medieval church dedicated, and no doubt the centre of the cult of Collen.

The church was a possession of Valle Crucis abbey from the mid-thirteenth century and the church is listed as Ecclesia de Langollen in the taxation of 1291–2. A mid-eighteenth century source records an 'old church' to the west of the tower, now lost, in which Collen was buried.
