Church dedicated to Katherine.

Both Browne Willis and A.W. Wade-Evans agree on the dedication of the church, and a reference in the Valor Ecclesiasticus of 1535 to 'Eccl'ia S'c'e Kat'ine' provides an earlier attestation.

Wade-Evans suggested that there were perhaps two parishes at Llanfaes, but this seems unlikely. The church is located at some distance from the former settlement and friary at Llanfaes.
