Church of St Brynach
Pontfaen, Pembrokeshire
Diocese: Tyddewi/St Davids
OS Grid Ref.: SN02183408
Lat/Lng: 51.9698953535,-4.88123557553
Medieval church that had fallen to ruin by the nineteenth century, restored around 1880 and again in 1901–4. As in the case of the church dedicated to Brynach at Henry's Moat, the church is listed as dedicated to Bernard by Browne Willis, while correctly giving the feast day of Brynach (7 April). The church is marked as St Bernard's on the first edition six-inch OS map (1888) and then as St Brynach's on the second edition (1908). The church can surely be equated with Pons Lapideus by the River Gwaun, where, according to the Latin Life, Brychan freed the place from unclean spirits.
