Medieval church rebuilt in 1834 and restored in 1885. Its dedication is not attested until its appearance on the OS map in 1888 as 'St Mary's', although it is shown as 'St David's' by 1906, and this is the current dedication of the church. The church is listed by Browne Willis and Wade-Evans as simply 'Capel Abergorlech'.
