Dafydd Llwyd of Mathafarn, Moliant i Dydecho

Fifteenth-century poem of praise for Tydecho by Dafydd Llwyd of Mathafarn.

The poem is our main source for the Life of Tydecho, as no prose Life has survived. The poem connects Tydecho firstly with St Dogmaels, from where he travelled to Mawddwy. Tydecho is harassed by Maelgwn Gwynedd, and then by Cynon, who abducts his sister, Tegfedd. At the end of the poem Tydecho repels an invading army, without loss of life. Edited by Eurig Salisbury for the Cult of Saints in Wales project.
